Team Rubicon and Service

Team Rubicon is a non-profit organization that deploys military veterans and civilian volunteers to provide disaster relief and humanitarian aid. The organization was founded in 2010 by Jake Wood and William McNulty, both Marine veterans, in response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti.

Team Rubicon's mission is to unite the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders and other volunteers to rapidly deploy emergency response teams. These teams offer immediate assistance to communities affected by disasters, including natural disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes, and floods, as well as other crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

The organization's unique approach not only provides timely and effective disaster response but also offers veterans a sense of purpose, community, and a way to continue their service in civilian life. Team Rubicon has responded to numerous disasters around the world, providing aid and assistance to those in need while leveraging the skills and leadership abilities of military veterans.

Ever since joining the Navy and thereafter, I have continued working towards giving back to my community and I find it hard envision myself in any other capacity.  My work with Team Rubicon has been a pinacle of service that has come in many forms for me. Working directly with those affected by disaster, service to country, protecting the environment that we all live in, and most importantly making a difference to a Greyshirt (Volunteer who deploys with Team Rubicon) who sometimes gets so much for themselves through the process of helping others.  Working with Team Rubicon has personally touched me in unexpected ways and in the deepest of manners and has cemented my desire to continue to serve.   I look forward to future deployments withTeam Rubicon well into the future.
